Before I started to work with e-cloth ®, it was important for me and my customers to find out how their products were manufactured, from an ethical standpoint. In today's global economy, we are able to acquire goods of incredible quality and diversity from just about anywhere. Unfortunately this often comes at the price of justice for those producing these goods. The textile industry, in particular, has a large 'black eye' when it comes to human rights and environmental abuses.
Great news with e-cloth ®! As I began to investigate, I found that those at the head of the e-cloth ® brand were as committed to ethical behaviour as I am and are looking to be a part of the global solution! Here are a few of the ways:
- e-cloth ® products are manufactured in a factory in Korea. Korea has much higher labour standards than some of the countries nearby.
- The factory is highly technologically advanced (which is why the quality of their products surpasses those of our competitors), and boasts both ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) certification The factory also has a program for continuous improvement.
- Finally, the e-cloth brand follows the Base Code of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) that we make every factory we deal with adhere to. Each factory is visited at least 2X per year and many times 3-4X per year to make sure they are adhering to The Base Code.
